Thanks to his smooth yet gutsy vocals, Morris Day played a key role in the development of the Twin City dance/club sound of the 1980s. Morris is also an establishing member of Prince's band named The Time in 1981. His involvement with the group dates back to 1980, when he allowed his song "Partyup," (recorded when he was a member of the band Enterprise), to be covered on Prince's Dirty Mind album. He remained with the band until 1984, when he went on to pursue his solo career. Two years after the release of his debut solo album in 1985, Day reached his apex with his second solo album, Daydreaming. In 1988, he returned to The Time for the very first time and then again, he reunited with the band from 1990 until 1991. As from 1995, Day performs and records with them on regular basis. 1992 saw the release of his third solo album, Guaranteed, which was followed by Day's touring on-again, off-again without coming up with any new product. It was in 2004, when he got back to record store shelves with It's About Time, an album with a few new studio cuts, one including a guest appearance by rapper E-40. When it comes to his acting career, Day landed roles in such movies as Prince's autobio-pic, Purple Rain (1984) and New Attitude (1990).
